Recovery Actions
Given that the diet of the Yellow-bellied Gliders includes tree sap, nectar, honeydew and arthropods*, students are challenged to consider what types of plants could be planted in the local environment that could serve as food sources. As part of this learning activity, students arrive at the realization that they get this food from a variety of plants and also need big trees for shelter.
Once students have decided on the most appropriate plant for their environment, they obtain one, plant it, photograph it and then complete the Google Form by adding the location of the plant into the Google Maps Engine. The resulting map will show the location of all of the new plants that hopefully will support the recovery of the Yellow-bellied Glider. Include an ICON to submit a response.
