Protecting Our Glider
Project In-Situ Yellow-bellied Glider is a project based learning experience focusing on the Yellow-bellied Glider, a large arboreal nocturnal marsupial that is found in the tall eucalypt forests of the Central Coast of NSW, and the recovery of this vulnerable species into the future.
The Yellow-bellied Glider is listed as a Vulnerable species under the Threatened Species Act 1995. The major threats to the Yellow-bellied Glider include the loss and fragmentation of habitat, isolation of populations due to land development and predation by foxes, cats and dogs. As part of their learning students from Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, Kincumber and St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, East Gosford are supported and empowered by their mentors from St Edward's College, East Gosford and St Joseph's Catholic College, East Gosford to educate the local community about how they can help save this amazing local species through designing, making and displaying a campaign product.
